The Gosaikunda Trek may be a shorter but stunning hike in Nepal’s Langtang region, designed for those with limited time yet wanting to experience trekking within the Himalayas. This trek reaches Gosaikunda Lake, situated at 4380 meters, a site of great religious importance to Hindu pilgrims, especially during the Janai Purnima festival when it’s believed bathing here can cause salvation. The trek offers rich encounters with rhododendron and pine forests, diverse wildlife, the chance to spot the rare procyonid, and spectacular views of the Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and Langtang ranges. You’ll also discover cultural highlights like monasteries and a yak cheese factory, enhancing your journey.

Your 7-day trek begins with a bus ride from Kathmandu to Dhunche, passing through scenic towns like Kakani and Trishuli.  From Dhunche, the route climbs towards Chandanbari, traversing challenging terrains through Deurali and Dimsa. As you progress from Chandanbari to Gosaikunda, you’ll encounter places like Chyolangpati and Laurebina, the mesmerizing rhododendron woodlands, and the serene Buddha Temple. After spending quality time exploring Gosaikunda and its surrounding lakes like Bhairav Kunda and Surya Kunda, you’ll trek back to Dhunche. The trek concludes with a return bus journey to Kathmandu, leaving you with lasting memories of a deeply cultural and visually breathtaking experience.

Itinerary

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, a representative from Gorkha Himalayan Trek, holding a signboard, will meet you outside and opposite the terminal hall. They will greet you and assist with your transfer to the hotel, ensuring a smooth start to your adventure in Nepal.

As you travel towards Syabrubesi, you will be greeted with stunning vistas of rivers, terraced farmlands, quaint villages, and snow-capped mountains. Following the Trishuli River and ascending to Dhunche, you'll enjoy views of the Annapurna I, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and various other peaks. Upon arriving in Syabrubesi, take the chance to stretch and explore this charming town before settling sure the night at a neighborhood teahouse. Throughout Nepal's trekking routes, these simple yet cozy teahouses provide a warm, welcoming place to rest, offering basic but delicious meals and cozy beds, ensuring a rejuvenating experience after each day's journey on the Langtang Valley Trek.

The trek from Dhunche at 1960m to Chandanbari at 3330m offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas and diverse landscapes. Beginning amidst lush forests, the trail gradually ascends, revealing panoramic vistas of snow-capped peaks. Chandanbari, nestled amidst the mountains, provides a serene setting for trekkers to rest and rejuvenate before further exploration of the Langtang region.

Today's segment of your trek from Shin Gompa to Gosaikunda is going to be more difficult than yesterday. Starting with breakfast at Shin Gompa, your trail begins with a gradual ascent and then progresses along a rocky, narrow path. As you ascend, you'll navigate barren slopes and face brisk, freezing winds. After hiking for about an hour and a half, you'll reach Cholangpati.

From Cholangpati, the panorama expands to incorporate breathtaking views of Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, and Langtang Ri. The journey continues for one more 2.5 hours to Lauribina. From Lauribina, a two-hour ascent will take you to the Buddha Temple, a big and serene waypoint on your route. You'll conclude your day at Gosaikunda, checking into an area teahouse. Here, you’ll have the chance to explore the world and its array of sacred lakes, immersing yourself in the tranquil and spiritual atmosphere of this revered place.

The trek from Gosaikunda at 4380m to Dhunche at 1960m offers a thrilling descent through varied terrain. Starting from the sacred alpine lake of Gosaikunda, trekkers navigate rocky paths and lush forests, descending to lower elevations. Along the way, they encounter stunning mountain vistas and diverse flora and fauna, culminating in a rewarding journey back to the vibrant town of Dhunche.

The drive from Dhunche at 1960m to Kathmandu at 1400m winds through picturesque landscapes of the Himalayan foothills. Passing through quaint villages and terraced fields, the road descends gradually, offering glimpses of rural life and stunning mountain vistas. As it nears Kathmandu, the bustling capital city comes into view, welcoming travelers with its vibrant atmosphere and rich cultural heritage.

On your final day in Kathmandu, a staff member will accompany you to Tribhuvan International Airport three hours before your scheduled departure time. Enjoy breakfast before your journey home, marking the end of your memorable adventure in Nepal.
